Partners
Without our partners we could not serve the people of Kenya efficiently. We
are gradually approaching a self-sustaining mode but still depend on our donors. You can find more
detailed information in our annual reports.
Currently our main partners are:
- Friends Church: Our main partner is the
Friends Church Vokoli Annual Meeting. It is connected to the Friends Theological College
(ftc.quaker.org) in Kaimosi. The college
was founded in 1942 and "sends forth pastoral ministers who will be thoughtful listeners,
effective evangelists, dynamic preachers, informed educators and models of integrity".
- CBM: About 100 years ago, CBM was founded
in Germany as a Mission for the Blind. Today it is an international christian organisation whose primary
purpose is to improve the quality of life of the world's poorest people with disabilities and those at risk
of disability, who live in the most disadvantaged societies. CBM provides us with support
in the running costs, manpower and capital grants for large investments. Last
but not least, CBM assists us in planning and facilitating our goals. You can find more information
on www.cbm.org.
- Lions: Several Lion-Clubs from Western Kenya
(e.g. Lions Clubs of Amagoro, Kisumu Equator, Kisumu Milimani, Kitale...)
collaborate with us in cataract camps and sponsor a large number of cataract
surgeries each year through Lions International. Lions Germany has been instrumental
in supporting some of our constructions. More information on www.lionsclubs.org.
- Oud in Afrika: Oud in Afrika is an organisation
based in the Netherlands. They support a large number of cataract surgeries,
mainly of poor elderly blind people from various parts of Western Kenya. See
www.oudinafrika.nl.
- Government of Kenya: We work together with
several District Hospitals and their staff in order to fulfill the National
Strategic Plan for Eye Care in Kenya 2005-2010. We have recently initiated
a provincial Vision 2020 plan in collaboration with various districts in Western
Province. The major objective of the program is to provide basic/primary eye
care to underserved areas and create a proper referal network for eye care
provision. More information on www.health.go.ke.
- Others: We are grateful for a vast number
of institutions and volunteers who work in collaboration with us.
