Continuous Medical Education (CME) Workshop

Sabatia Eye Hospital recently hosted a successful Continuous Medical Education (CME) workshop. This event was organized in terms of an experience sharing session and a training session ( continuous medical education). The  CME was done in Kisumu at Accasia premier hotel where  45 participants drawn from Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu, Bungoma, Siaya, Homabay, Kisii, Nandi and Busia counties attended.

The CME was themed  Local and Global trends of blindness and Visual Impairments. Areas covered included Global perspectives of blindness and visual impairments, screening of refractive errors, Low vision Aid and Trauma in Ophthalmology. Through the CME, participants were able to exchange ideas, seek clarifications and establish channels for consultation.

Paediatric Refraction and Low Vision.

In conjunction with Masinde Muliro University of Science and technology, the hospital is currently conducting a three months training in paediatric refraction and low vision. The training targets mainly optometrists from all over the country. Among counties represented include Nairobi Kiambu, Mombasa, Vihiga, Uasingishu, Garissa and Kakamega. The ten participants enrolled will go three a  combination of theory and practical sessions aimed at improving their skills in paediatric refraction and low vision.
